“They don’t know anyone else at the race. It’s not a lot of fun to go an event like this all by yourself and not have anyone to share it with. That REALLY is part of the experience. It’s certainly that way from the spectator’s point of view.”

As a triathlete i think this one is really important. They say that having a significant other is wonderful because you have someone to witness and share your life with which doubles the pleasures and halves the disappointments. I get REALLY bummed when I do a race and someone doesn’t come to cheer me on or congratulate me or be there for me to give a recap to or hug me when I had a poor race. Plus who is going to get ice cream with you after? HAHA. I guess I race like a little kid.

I’ve done a lot of races by myself. and they are fine. But I always find myself a little sad.

Greatly appreciate hearing from “the other side” and to know we are appreciated!!! Carl has seriously said how important it is to see my along the race course and hear me yell – gives him a boost. So, I know it’s important for me to be there. You’re not like a little kid. We all want someone to share our special moments with….

I will if I will miss one, my husband is new into triathlon (2012 was is first ironman) and since then I have been at every single race, including, pregnant, with an infant, a toddler and pregnant, and with a toddler and an infant. I know it’s sounds crazy, carrying sometimes both girls to one spot to an another or even running to the the transition after he is out of the water! It’s not easy every day to have an husband triathlete, but I feel I need to be there for him. Even if people usually tells me that I m doing my own Ironman during his race. Maybe as time goes by, I won’t attend all of them. Christelle

Thanks for the comment, Christelle. We try to be at all the races, too. We know they love the support and appreciate us being there. Doesn’t always work out, but you do what you can. I have to give you tons of credit for doing it with 2 kids. That can be a definite challenge. I hope you have fun and are appreciated!!! We’ve been at this for many years, but I can tell you we still do go to most of the races. I think mostly because we still love the lifestyle and enjoy getting together with the friends we have met along the way….
